“... the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him ... out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof ... Loneliness is usually not good for people. There are reasons why people need companionship. These reasons extend themselves to marriage (Proverbs 18:22), to work (Ecclesiastes 4:9), to someone to help in times of struggle (Ecclesiastes 4:10), to warmth and survival (Ecclesiastes 4:11), and to the battle against foes (Ecclesiastes 4:12).

All the original (first) beasts of the field and every original (first) fowl of the air was also formed out the ground, just as the first man. This means that the beasts of the field and fowls or the air have the same chemical make up as the virgin dirt of earth. Adam was allowed to name all these creatures. None of these creatures were a satisfactory companion or “help meet” for the first man.
