This passage provides important clues to the miraculous fact that God is the One Who gives couples children, rather than every act of intercourse. In the same way, it is an act against God to attempt to obstruct children from being born. There are hundreds of married couples that try continuously to have children, who cannot. God has a plan and a purpose for every person born into the world (Ephes. 1:4-6,11), that He had for them before they were born (Jer. 1:5; Eccles. 11:5). Children are not merely accidents, but rather an intentional creation of God for which He alone opens the womb.
